HERE’S WHAT CHANGED
What moms like you are saying
It wasn’t until I found the Hopestream podcast, joined this community, and was introduced to CRAFT that my and my daughter’s behaviors began to make sense. Being able to understand has led to more openness, empathy communication, and much less anger.

I remember my first call in The Stream and just seeing and hearing other moms saying all the things I was feeling was so powerful that I started to cry. Knowing I wasn’t alone in this journey was huge!
Dana D., joined 2025
I’ve been listening to the Hopestream podcasts for about a year desperately trying to find some answers to my 17 (almost 18) year old son’s marijuana use. Wish I’d done this sooner.

Discovering the Hopestream podcast & community has provided an invaluable layer of education and support. It helps me live in the uncomfortable spaces of a long, circuitous journey.

FAQs
What’s the main focus of this community?
We’re here for moms and female caregivers of teens and young adults who struggle with substance use and mental health. We support you in finding ways to dial down the drama, increase your confidence, improve communication and create conditions where your child is more likely to make positive change in their life.
We use and teach evidence-based approaches to reducing substance use and increasing the likelihood that your child will accept help. It’s not about ‘tough love’ and allowing your child to hit ‘rock bottom,’ but loving them with limits and allowing them to experience the natural consequences of their actions. It’s not easy – but luckily you don’t have to do it alone anymore.
Is this a Facebook group?
Nope. Confidentiality is one of Hopestream’s core values, and we don’t want that random guy from high school, or your nosy sister-in-law to see what groups you’re a part of.
Also, we don’t want you to be distracted by ads, politics, or anything else when you’re working to make positive change in your family. Our community is privately hosted in a completely stand-alone digital space meaning it’s not connected to any other website or online entity. We never want your personal business to become everyone’s business.
Is this like Al-Anon or Nar-Anon?
Yes and no.
Like Al-Anon, The Stream is built on the understanding that you’re not alone, that community is vital, and that the path forward starts with changing yourself, not trying to control your child. You’ll find the same emphasis on healthy boundaries and genuine self-care.
Where The Stream goes further is in the how: it’s available 24/7/365 (not just when a meeting is scheduled), it’s exclusively for mothers and female caregivers of teens and young adults, and it’s built around evidence-based approaches that give you concrete, actionable steps to actually motivate change in your child, not just cope with the situation.
If Al-Anon or Nar-Anon have been meaningful to you, The Stream can work alongside it. If you’ve never found a meeting that quite fit, this was built with you in mind.
My child is in their 20s, is it too late?
No – as a matter of fact, one of our most active and vibrant sub-groups is called Warrior Moms and it’s specifically for you. We get the exhaustion that comes with multiple attempts at treatment, the relapses, the loss of legal control – it’s a lot. The Stream is the place you’ll lock arms with other battle-tested moms and learn how to confidently rebuild connection and communication with your young adult child.
My child has been through treatment more than once and is still struggling — is this still the right place?
This is exactly the right place. Many of the women in The Stream have been on this road for years – through multiple treatment programs, relapse cycles, and everything in between.
Recovery is rarely linear, and The Stream isn’t built around the assumption that it is. You’ll find moms here who know the devastation of a relapse after a period of sobriety and hope. The Stream provides a consistent team of supporters, sisters and resources that stay with you no matter what’s going on with your child.
What if I can’t afford The Stream but need support?
