Our Story

Hopestream Community is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization driven by a collective of experienced professionals and parents. We’re fiercely passionate about improving the lives of families impacted by substance misuse, addiction, and mental health challenges.

Our genesis is found in a passion project started by Brenda Zane after her son struggled for years with a high-risk lifestyle and addiction – culminating in two fentanyl overdoses in three days.

From her intense desire to prevent other parents from experiences like hers, she began a podcast and online community for moms in early 2020.

Today, we host two distinct and private parent communities, a weekly podcast, educational experiences, retreats, and local meetups serving those who identify as parents or caregivers to teens and young adults who struggle with substance misuse and mental health.

Hopestream Community vision for healthier families

our vision

Our vision is to create safer, healthier communities. We do this by supporting and empowering families to make positive changes when they’re impacted by a child’s substance misuse.

Hopestream Community support for parents

Our Mission

Our mission is to equip parents with vital knowledge, personal connections, and resources they need to create conditions for positive change when they have a child misusing substances and struggling with mental health challenges.

We Believe

You are not the cause of your child’s substance use

You can have a tremendously positive influence on your child’s life and motivation to change

You can help your child change through science and kindness rather than disengaging and letting them hit rock bottom

We support all methods and forms of recovery, including medication and harm reduction

We practice unapologetic, radical self-care and believe positivity and mindfulness are powerful tools in helping our children get healthy

We support parents and young people of all races, genders and identities, faiths, and socioeconomic statuses

Our voices are powerful and must be heard. When we have the capacity, we advocate for our children

As families, we are stronger together
