Overview
Boundaries are a good place to start if you’d like less frustration and walking on eggshells with your child or loved one who misuses substances. But boundaries may be a new concept, or you haven’t figured out how to make them work. If that’s the case, this workshop is for you.
Completing this course will help you:
- Learn what healthy boundaries are - and aren't
- Learn the difference between ultimatums and boundaries
- Understand the different styles of boundaries and which is most effective
- Develop a boundary that's rooted in your values and motives
- Craft the message around your boundary so it isn't a threat or punishment
- Know when the ideal time is to communicate your boundary
Who is the course for?
This course is for parents or caregivers who have a child experimenting with or addicted to drugs or alcohol. The young person may be a teen or young adult who’s substance use is negatively impacting their, and your life.

This workshop is held in one two-hour session via Zoom. The next workshop will be held on Sat. April 20, 2024, from 8:30-10:30 AM Pacific Time.
The cost for this workshop is $79 USD.

Brenda Zane
About Brenda:
Brenda Zane is a family advocate, host of the podcast Hopestream, and founder of the nonprofit organization Hopestream Community. She’s passionate about serving parents of teens and young adults who struggle with substance misuse and mental health challenges. Brenda’s oldest son struggled with an addiction to a high-risk lifestyle and illicit drugs for over five years. After nearly losing him to multiple fentanyl overdoses, Brenda left her marketing career to serve other families dealing with the fear, confusion and feelings of helplessness of having a child who’s misusing drugs or alcohol.
Brenda is certified in evidence-based approaches, including Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT), The Invitation To Change Approach, and Motivational Interviewing. She is a certified coach and facilitator for The Partnership To End Addiction and a Certified Mayo Clinic Health and Wellness Coach. She has a B.S. in Marketing and Business Administration and several addiction, treatment, and prevention certificates.
